42.1.5 Andrew Durnford and Mary Hadley his Family

Andrew Durnford and Mary Hadley

In December 1824,  after Harriet Westwood died, Andrew married again, probably to another housekeeper who was looking after his young children.

Her name was Mary Hadley and she was born in Wolverhampton
St Peters.  Mary was born 25 February 1799 and her parents were William Hadley and Sarah Felton.

Mary Hadley is our great grandmother.

Wolverhampton is near Birmingham.

In 1921 at the birth of her youngest brother the family were living in Newington, a district of London. He was christened in St Mary's Church

Newington is a district of Central London, England, and part of the London Borough of Southwark. It was an ancient parish and the site of the early administration of the county of Surrey
The parish of Newington St Mary was part of the Brixton hundred of Surrey

There is not much to be told about Mary.  She was one of 14 children, her father was in the Military.

Mary was 21 years older than the youngest brother, so perhaps she was housekeeper and nanny for her mother, and then sought employment.

She most probably met Andrew in Newington.

They were married on 12th December 1824 at West Iisley Church in Berkshire.

They had 6 children
